At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.
About the Role
Blue Origin is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join Silicon System team. In this role, you will work closely with RF system and DSP engineers to optimize simulation models for silicon-based components and phased array antenna systems. Your work will directly impact the performance, accuracy, and scalability of our simulation infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Optimize existing MATLAB, Python, and C++ simulation models for phased array antenna systems to reduce memory footprint and simulation runtime
Profile and benchmark simulation code to identify performance bottlenecks and implement targeted improvements
Refactor legacy MATLAB scripts into efficient, modular, and maintainable codebases
Implement high-performance C++ algorithms for computationally intensive antenna and silicon modeling tasks
Collaborate with RF and DSP engineers to understand physical models and ensure optimization does not compromise simulation fidelity
Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to validate model accuracy before and after optimization
Explore and integrate techniques such as:
Parallel computing (e.g., MATLAB Parallel Computing Toolbox, OpenMP, MPI)
Memory management and data structure optimization
Algorithmic complexity reduction
MEX file development for MATLAB/C++ integration
Document optimization strategies, methodologies, and results clearly
Support continuous integration pipelines for simulation model validation
