Faulkner University's College of Health Sciences (CHS) is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Part-Time Simulation Educator. The selected individual will provide assigned simulation-based teaching, facilitation, debriefing, assessment, and curriculum support for CHS students, PATH healthcare professionals and rural partners, future workforce participants, and interprofessional learners. Faulkner University is a Christian university affiliated with the churches of Christ.
This is a part-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position. Average 20 hours per week. Work schedules and assignments will vary based on educational needs and may include campus, mobile, or partner-site activities. Daytime, evening, weekend, and occasional overnight assignments may be necessary.
Summary of Duties:
- Teach and facilitate assigned simulation-based learning activities for College of Health Sciences students, PATH participants, and interprofessional learners
- Design, adapt, review, or deliver simulation activities using approved learning outcomes, evidence-based simulation practices, and applicable professional standards
- Conduct learner orientation, pre-briefing, simulation facilitation, skills training and structured debriefing
- Assess learner knowledge, technical skills, clinical reasoning, communication, teamwork, leadership, and patient safety using approved assessment methods
- Provide constructive feedback, coaching, remediation, and deliberate-practice opportunities
- Collaborate with CHS program directors, faculty, simulation educators, technicians and partner organizations in preparing and delivering simulation activities
- Support PATH education delivered through the Simulation Hub, mobile simulation, in-situ education, hybrid methods or tele-simulation
- Complete required attendance, assessment, evaluation, continuing education, certification and program documentation
- Participate in orientation, faculty development, calibration, planning, and quality-improvement activities
- Travel to rural or partner locations when included in the assigned educational activity
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in nursing, an allied health profession, health sciences, health professions education, healthcare simulation, education, or a closely related field required; master's degree preferred
- Minimum of two years of relevant clinical, healthcare, higher-education teaching, professional education, or workforce-training experience required
- Demonstrated experience in healthcare education, clinical instruction, simulation facilitation, structured debriefing, curriculum development, skills training, or competency-based assessment required
- Candidates whose highest earned degree is a bachelor's degree must demonstrate additional preparation appropriate to the assignment through simulation, teaching, curriculum, assessment, structured debriefing training, relevant certification, and/or directly related experience
- Current, unrestricted professional license or certification required when applicable to the candidate's discipline and assigned teaching responsibilities
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator or comparable educator credential preferred; continued development toward an applicable simulation credential when eligible is encouraged
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet University insurance requirements when travel is included in the assignment
- Availability for scheduled daytime, evening, weekend, or occasional overnight assignments as agreed in advance
