Simulation & Software Engineer | New York City | $130k–$150k + Equity + Bonus
I'm recruiting for a Simulation & Software Engineer to join a growing engineering technology business in New York.
This is a role for someone who enjoys building sophisticated software systems around complex engineering and scientific problems.
The focus is on developing scalable simulation infrastructure, automating computational workflows and building the software that allows engineers and machine learning teams to explore and optimise electronic designs at scale.
You'll be responsible for turning traditionally manual, computationally intensive simulation processes into automated, reliable and scalable software pipelines.
What you'll be doing:
- Design and build automated simulation pipelines using Python.
- Integrate numerical solvers and physics-based simulation tools into scalable software workflows.
- Develop systems for electrical, thermal and electromagnetic simulations.
- Build distributed execution frameworks to run large simulation workloads across local, cloud or HPC environments.
- Automate parameter sweeps, design-space exploration and simulation data extraction.
- Improve simulation performance, reliability, failure recovery and computational efficiency.
- Develop robust data pipelines to process, validate, version and store simulation results.
- Work alongside machine learning and hardware engineers to ensure simulation outputs support model development and physical validation.
What we're looking for:
- Strong Python software engineering experience.
- Experience with scientific computing, numerical simulations or physics-based modelling.
- Hands-on experience automating computational workflows or integrating simulation tools.
- Understanding of parallel computing, distributed systems or high-performance computing.
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure, workload scheduling or orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of numerical methods and at least one of circuit simulation, electromagnetics or thermal analysis.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals with an emphasis on reliability, scalability and maintainability.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with large-scale simulation datasets.
- Familiarity with solver convergence, numerical stability and simulation validation.
- Experience building reproducible scientific computing pipelines.
- Previous collaboration with machine learning or hardware engineering teams.
Package:
- Base salary: $130,000–$150,000
- Equity + bonus
- New York City, 5 days per week on-site
This is a great opportunity for a strong software engineer who wants to move beyond traditional application development and work on technically challenging problems involving physics, simulations and large-scale computing.
If you've built software around scientific computing or complex simulation environments, I'd be keen to hear from you.
