Position OverviewYou will lead the show staff team to create and perform engaging opening/closing ceremonies for our Scouting guests. You'll also support other performances tied to high-adventure programs, bringing high-quality energy, creativity, to every production. This role focuses on storytelling, sharing Appalachian heritage, and creating a memorable experience to enhance program.Key ResponsibilitiesLead your team in planning, rehearsing, and performing ceremonies, stage shows, and other live productions.Guide the creative process for scripting, set lists, and production design to develop engaging performances.Foster a positive, enthusiastic, and adaptable team culture through mentorship, feedback, and clear leadership.Assign roles, schedules, and responsibilities to team members; ensure strong coordination and communication.Perform in shows as needed, contributing musically or theatrically alongside the team.Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactionsMaintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 18+Demonstrated leadership and experience in theater, live performance, music, and/or event productionExperience in music performance, theatre and/or event production are preferred.Musical ability (instrumental or vocal) is strongly preferred; especially in old time, bluegrass, folk, musical genresVery comfortable speaking, singing, or performing in front of groups between 10-300Scouting experience preferredWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55 hoursDesired TraitsHigh emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
