Position OverviewThe Shows Team develops and performs in opening and closing ceremonies, as well as other high-adventure program performances. You are responsible for delivering engaging, story-driven musical productions that enhance the guest experience and showcase Appalachian heritage. This role requires creativity, collaboration, and live performance experiences.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to the design, rehearsal, and delivery of ~10 shows weekly, including opening/closing ceremoniesPerform in a small ensemble using songs and storytelling to engage audiences of 20-60 viewersCollaborate on creative development of scripts, set lists, and staging; consistently contribute fresh ideas and energySupport pre-show rehearsals, event setup, and packing of equipment and materials.Work with other program areas to ensure smooth event flow and support camp-wide showsModel the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactionsMaintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work areaPerform additional duties assigned by SBR leadershipAbide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbookQualificationsMinimum age: 18+Experience in music performance, theatre and/or event production preferredMusical ability (instrumental or vocal) is strongly preferredExperience in old time, bluegrass, folk, and associated genres preferred.Strong stage presentation skills and comfortable speaking, singing, and performing in front of groups 10-300 peopleScouting experience preferredWilling to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communicationPhysical & Practical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and hike up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 50 poundsComplete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelinesHousing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55 hoursDesired TraitsHigh emotional intelligence (such as self/social awareness and team dynamics)Positive and cheerful attitude with a strong customer-service focusAdaptability in a fast-paced environment with ability to learn/develop hard and soft skillsAbility to connect with individuals from diverse age groups, maturity, and backgrounds
