Careerscape is currently assisting with the hiring of a Remote Short-Form Video Editor for a growing direct-to-consumer brand and creator-economy company. This opportunity is designed for creative and trend-savvy editors who specialize in vertical video content built for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels.

The Short-Form Video Editor will own the production of platform-native vertical videos that drive watch-time, engagement, and revenue across paid and organic channels. This position offers hands-on creative ownership while collaborating with a creative director, performance marketers, and content creators in a fully remote environment.

Professionals with backgrounds or interest in Social Media Video Editing, UGC Editing, Performance Marketing Creative, Motion Graphics, Content Production, DTC Advertising, Creator Economy Editing, or YouTube Shorts Production are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Produce 15–60 second vertical videos optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Reels
  • Design powerful opening hooks within the first three seconds to maximize viewer retention
  • Transform raw UGC, creator footage, and product clips into polished, platform-ready edits
  • Apply captions, kinetic typography, sound design, transitions, and motion graphics
  • Match cuts to trending audio, beat drops, and viral creative formats
  • Develop direct-response and performance-driven creatives for paid social campaigns
  • Tailor each edit to the native style, aspect ratio, and algorithm signals of each platform
  • Partner with creators, copywriters, and the paid media team to interpret creative briefs
  • Refine and iterate edits based on view-through rate, retention curves, and conversion metrics
  • Track emerging platform trends, audio styles, and editing techniques across short-form video
  • Deliver multiple polished videos daily while maintaining consistent quality
  • Help shape the creative direction of campaigns through testing and creative experimentation
  • Keep an organized library of project files, raw assets, and finished deliverables

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional editing experience with a focused short-form vertical video portfolio
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere Pro and CapCut Pro required
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects for animated text and motion design
  • Deep fluency with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts content trends and culture
  • Strong sense of pacing, rhythm, hook structure, and audio-driven storytelling
  • Capacity to deliver three to five high-quality short-form edits per day
  • Background editing UGC, creator content, podcast clips, or DTC ad creative
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to apply creative feedback rapidly
  • Self-driven mindset suited to async, fully remote collaboration
  • Proper editing workstation and stable high-speed internet connection
  • Familiarity with creative tools such as DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Descript is a plus
  • Exposure to AI-assisted editing platforms (Runway, Opus Clip, ElevenLabs, Captions.ai) is a plus
