Position Overview
The Shop Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and equipment in a fast-paced shop environment. This role requires strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and equipment
- Work on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brakes, and drivetrains
- Inspect equipment and identify issues accurately and efficiently
- Complete repairs in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications
- Document work performed, including parts used and labor time
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and comply with DOT regulations
- Collaborate with team members and shop leadership to meet deadlines and productivity goals
- Assist with inspections and preventive maintenance programs
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in heavy-duty or diesel repair preferred
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with diesel engines, braking systems, and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and shop equipment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred but not required)
- Relevant certifications (ASE or OEM training) are a plus
Work Environment
- Physically demanding role (lifting, standing, bending, working with heavy equipment)
- Exposure to noise, grease, and varying temperatures
- Overtime or weekend work may be required based on shop workload
