    Shop Service Technician Intern

    Summary:  

    The Shop Service Technician Intern is an entry-level, hands-on learning position designed for students currently enrolled in a diesel technology, heavy equipment technology, agricultural mechanics, or related technical program. 


    Responsibilities: 

    • Work alongside experienced Shop Service Technicians to gain practical experience in the inspection, maintenance, service, and repair of heavy construction equipment 
    • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks under supervision, including lubrication and greasing, fluid and filter checks, battery inspection and maintenance, basic equipment inspections 
    • Assist technicians with disassembly and reassembly of equipment 
    • Learn to identify and properly use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment and shop equipment 
    • Assist with basic troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems 
    • Learn to read and understand equipment service manuals, schematics and technical documentation 
    • Assist with hydraulic hose replacements 
    • Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repair under supervision 
    • Assist with equipment inspections and documenting service findings 
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area 
    • Learn and follow manufacturer service and repair procedures 
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed as directed 

     

    Requirements: 

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent years of relevant experience and/or training
    • Minimum of 1+ years of experience servicing and maintenance of construction equipment
    • Embraces and promotes a safe operating culture
