Shop‑Floor Quality Inspection Lead — Tight‑Tolerance Components
Location: Solon, Ohio (Jerpbak Bayless)
Schedule: Full-Time
Is this you?
Do you speak GD&T fluently? Can you feel the difference between a 32 and a 16 Ra finish—and prove it on a profilometer? Do you enjoy collaborating with machinists at the machine to nail dimensions to tenths (.0001")? If yes, you’ll thrive leading inspection at the source—right on the shop floor.
What you’ll do
- Own first‑article, in‑process, and final inspections for precision CNC components with complex features and critical surfaces.
- Translate detailed blueprints and GD&T into clear inspection strategies aligned with engineering specs.
- Apply advanced metrology: optical comparator, surface finish tester/profilometer, CMM, height/bore/thread gauges, micrometers, calipers, and more.
- Verify microfinish requirements (including 16 Ra and below) and key dimensions to exacting tolerances.
- Work alongside machinists, programmers, and engineers to prevent defects and accelerate problem‑solving.
- Create and maintain precise inspection records and reports.
- Escalate and disposition nonconforming material; support root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Contribute to FAI execution, capability studies, and customer documentation deliverables.
What makes you successful here
- 5+ years inspecting components in a precision CNC environment.
- Proven skill with tight tolerances and sophisticated geometries.
- Expert blueprint/GD&T interpretation and communication.
- Mastery of precision gauges and advanced metrology techniques.
- Relentless attention to detail with a zero‑defect mentality.
