The Professional Division of Spherion Mid Ohio is partnering with a well-established Mansfield manufacturer to find a dependable, hands-on Shop Assistant / Maintenance Helper to support day-to-day maintenance, equipment upkeep, and facility operations.

1st Shift | $19–$21/hour | Direct Hire

This is a strong opportunity for someone with manufacturing experience who likes working with their hands, staying busy, and having variety in their day. This is not a Maintenance Technician position requiring advanced electrical or mechanical troubleshooting. We're looking for someone mechanically inclined who can learn, follow direction, work safely, and help keep the facility running smoothly.

What You'll Do
You'll work throughout the manufacturing facility supporting maintenance and general shop needs, including:

• Replace machinery, exhaust, compressor, and mill filters
• Monitor coolant and water softener systems
• Assist with cut-off die resurfacing for mill and recut equipment
• Support routine equipment and facility upkeep
• Prepare surfaces and work areas for painting projects
• Organize materials, tools, and supplies needed for projects
• Assist with general shop and maintenance-related tasks throughout the facility
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas
• Follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA guidelines
• Assist with additional hands-on projects as needed

The position is part of the Maintenance department and reports to the EHS Manager. The company's listed responsibilities specifically include filter replacement, coolant monitoring, die resurfacing, painting preparation, and facility-wide support duties.

What We're Looking For
You do not need to be an experienced Maintenance Technician.
We're looking for someone who brings:

• At least 1 year of manufacturing experience
• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working around industrial equipment
• A dependable work history and strong attendance
• The ability to work independently once trained
• Willingness to tackle different tasks throughout the day
• Strong attention to safety and following procedures
• A team-oriented attitude and willingness to help wherever needed

The company requires at least one year of manufacturing experience and the ability to independently complete assigned work within established instructions and routines.

Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on manufacturing position. Candidates must be comfortable:

• Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds
• Frequently bending, climbing, and squatting
• Working throughout an industrial manufacturing environment
• Wearing required PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, gloves, and other protective equipment when required
