Shop Assistant

Brush Hog Tree Care, Inc. is looking for a dependable and organized Shop Assistant to support our daily operations and help keep our shop, vehicles, tools, and equipment ready for the field.

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys working with tools and equipment, staying organized, and helping a busy operation run smoothly. The majority of work will take place in a shop and yard environment, with occasional driving and travel for deliveries, parts pickups, and other company needs. We’re looking for a team player who takes initiative, communicates well, works safely, and takes pride in keeping things clean, organized, and ready to go.

Key Responsibilities

Shop & Equipment Support

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and yard environment.
• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipment.
• Organize tools, equipment, materials, and shop supplies.
• Monitor inventory and restock supplies as needed.
• Wash and maintain company trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment.
• Help ensure equipment and supplies are ready for daily field operations.

Driving, Deliveries & Logistics

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport tools, materials, parts, and equipment.
• Pick up and drop off parts and equipment for service or repair.
• Perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Follow all company driving policies, traffic laws, and safety requirements.

General Operations

• Assist with firewood orders, including loading and deliveries.
• Prepare and protect firewood and materials ahead of rain or changing weather conditions.
• Maintain shop supplies, including lubricants, safety equipment, PPE, and first aid supplies.
• Assist with loading, unloading, organizing, and moving materials and equipment.
• Support the operations team with other shop, yard, and logistical duties as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work throughout the day.
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, equipment, and basic mechanical tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Dependable attendance and good time-management skills.
• Clear, consistent communication.
• Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
• Willingness to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to understand and communicate work instructions and safety information in English.
• Conversational Spanish is a plus!

Ideal candidates are dependable, proactive, mechanically inclined, and able to recognize what needs to be done without waiting to be asked.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated skill level.
