    Shop Assistant

Maverick Car Company – Boise, ID
    Full-Time | Monday–Friday

    About the Position

Maverick Car Company is looking for a Shop Assistant to support our technicians and Service Team across both our Retail Service and Recon operations.

This is a hands-on role focused on keeping vehicles, parts, tools, and the shop moving efficiently while also helping create a smooth, professional experience for our clients.

The Shop Assistant is an important connection between the work happening behind the scenes and the experience our clients see. Whether you're moving a customer's vehicle, helping with a shuttle, delivering a vehicle to the front, or simply interacting with a client in the shop, you represent Maverick.

The goal is simple: keep the operation moving and help make the client experience exceptional.

If you're dependable, organized, physically active, comfortable around vehicles, and someone who naturally looks for ways to help both your team and your clients, we'd like to meet you.

    What You'll Do

    Shop & Technician Support

    • Move and port vehicles between Service, Recon, Detail, Inventory, vendors, and the dealership

    • Retrieve and stage vehicles for technicians

    • Move completed vehicles to their next stage

    • Receive, organize, and deliver parts to technicians

    • Maintain organized parts and supply areas

    • Keep technician work areas and common shop areas clean and organized

    • Assist with shop supplies, tools, and equipment

    • Fuel vehicles and handle basic vehicle support tasks

    • Assist with parts and supply runs

    • Help maintain vehicle keys and vehicle locations

    • Assist technicians with basic support tasks within your training

    • Identify and communicate workflow bottlenecks

    • Support the Service and Recon teams wherever needed

    Client Experience & Transportation

    • Provide professional and friendly customer shuttle services when needed

    • Safely transport customer vehicles and company vehicles as assigned

    • Help move customer vehicles through the Service process efficiently

    • Assist with vehicle drop-offs, pickups, and handoffs when requested

    • Help ensure vehicles are clean, organized, and ready when being returned to clients

    • Interact professionally with clients, answering basic questions or directing them to the appropriate team member

    • Recognize opportunities to make the client's experience easier and communicate concerns to the Service Team

    • Represent Maverick professionally during every client interaction

    What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

    • 21 years of age or older

    • Able to provide a valid driver's license

    • Dependable and punctual

    • Organized and detail-oriented

    • Comfortable working in a busy automotive shop environment

    • Able to work on your feet and perform physical tasks throughout the day

    • Comfortable driving and moving vehicles

    • Professional and comfortable interacting with customers

    • A team player who enjoys supporting others

    • Proactive and able to stay productive without constant direction

    • Able to communicate clearly and professionally

    • Willing to learn automotive shop operations

Previous automotive experience is a plus, but it is not required. We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, mechanically inclined, comfortable around people, and willing to learn.

    What Success Looks Like

The best Shop Assistant makes the entire operation better.

Technicians have the parts and vehicles they need. Vehicles are where they're supposed to be. Parts and supplies are organized. The shop stays clean and safe. Problems are communicated quickly. Clients are treated professionally. And when your primary tasks are complete, you're already looking for the next way you can help.

    You'll be successful when:

    • Technicians spend more time doing technician work and less time handling operational tasks

    • Vehicles move through Service and Recon without unnecessary delays

    • Parts and supplies are organized and readily available

    • Customer vehicles are handled carefully and professionally

    • Client transportation needs are handled safely and efficiently

    • Clients feel taken care of when interacting with you

    • The Service Team can rely on you to follow through

    • You communicate problems before they become bigger problems

    • You stay productive without needing constant direction

Your job is to help keep the shop moving while making sure the client experience never gets lost in the process.

    This Is a Support & Client-Facing Role

This position is designed to support our technicians and Service Team while also interacting directly with our clients.

It is not a technician or service advisor position.

You will not be responsible for:

    • Diagnosing vehicle concerns

    • Writing repair orders or service tickets

    • Creating repair estimates

    • Approving repairs

    • Communicating repair recommendations to customers

    • Performing repairs outside of specifically assigned and approved tasks

Instead, you'll work alongside the Service Team to remove obstacles, keep vehicles moving, support technicians, and help deliver a smooth experience for every client.

    Why Maverick?

At Maverick, the little things matter.

The way a vehicle is moved. The way a customer is greeted. The way a technician gets the part they need. The way a customer's vehicle is handed back to them.

All of those moments contribute to the experience we create.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants a hands-on automotive role with real responsibility, enjoys staying busy, likes working with people, and wants to grow within the automotive industry.

If you're someone who takes pride in being helpful, keeping things moving, and taking care of people, we'd love to meet you.
