Position OverviewPeople Source OKC is hiring an experienced
Shipping Supervisor for a valve company in Oklahoma City. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping department while also working hands-on alongside the team with shipping, packaging, and logistics activities.We are looking for a strong leader who can keep the department organized, ensure customer orders are processed and shipped accurately and on time, and maintain high standards for quality, safety, and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will have experience with both domestic and international shipping and be comfortable leading employees in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of the shipping department
- Lead, coach, train, and provide direction to shipping personnel
- Work hands-on alongside the shipping team with packaging, order preparation, and shipping activities
- Ensure customer orders are accurately processed, documented, packaged, and shipped on schedule
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments
- Coordinate shipments with parcel, freight, and LTL carriers
- Prepare and review shipping documentation for accuracy
- Assist with export documentation and international customs requirements
- Monitor shipping schedules and prioritize orders based on customer commitments
- Maintain accurate shipping and logistics records
- Work closely with Sales, Production, Purchasing, Inventory, Quality, and Customer Service departments
- Troubleshoot shipping delays, documentation issues, and other logistics concerns
- Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and efficient shipping department
- Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes and department efficiency
- Ensure company shipping procedures and applicable transportation requirements are followed
- Lead by example while maintaining accountability and strong teamwork within the department
Requirements- Previous shipping, logistics, or warehouse leadership experience required
- Strong supervisory, leadership, and team-building skills
- Thorough knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures
- Experience working with freight carriers, parcel carriers, and LTL shipments
- International logistics experience
- Working knowledge of export documentation and customs requirements
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple orders and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments
- Comfortable being a hands-on supervisor and assisting the shipping team as needed
- Dependable attendance and punctuality required
