Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, documenting, storing, and shipping products and materials accurately and efficiently. This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring timely deliveries, and supporting the service, parts, and production departments while maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities and condition against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Inspect deliveries for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Accurately enter receiving and shipping information into the company inventory system.
- Label, organize, and stock inventory in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick, pack, and prepare outgoing shipments using appropriate packaging methods.
- Coordinate shipments with freight carriers, parcel services, and local delivery providers.
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and participate in cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Assist parts, service, and production departments by locating and delivering needed materials.
- Keep the warehouse, receiving dock, and shipping areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Dispose of packaging materials and maintain recycling procedures when applicable.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory experience preferred.
- Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documents.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout the workday.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed.
