Lead Shipping Clerk Job Description
Position Summary
The Lead Shipping Clerk oversees daily shipping operations and provides direct leadership to a team of four employees. The position ensures accurate, safe, and timely shipment of products while
coordinating shipping activities with production, warehouse personnel, carriers, and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead daily shipping operations; supervise 4 employees; assign work and monitor productivity; prepare bills of lading, labels, packing slips, and freight documents; coordinate carrier schedules;
verify shipment accuracy; maintain records; investigate shipping discrepancies; train employees; support inventory accuracy; enforce safety and quality standards.
Conflict Resolution Responsibilities
Address employee concerns promptly and professionally; mediate workplace disputes; promote respectful communication; coach employees on teamwork and professionalism; maintain
confidentiality; escalate unresolved issues to the Plant Manager and Production Manager when appropriate.
Leadership Expectations
Lead by example, maintain accountability, support employee development, encourage continuous improvement, and foster a positive work environment.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required. Shipping, warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, and leadership experience preferred. Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and
computer skills required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in a manufacturing environment. Lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance. Ability to work extended shifts and
occasional Saturdays.
