Shipping & Material Handler

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Shipping & Material Handler to support our manufacturing and warehouse operations. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, moving, packaging, and shipping materials and finished goods while ensuring accurate inventory control and timely support of production schedules. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Inventory

• Receive incoming materials and transport them to Quality Control for inspection.
• Move approved materials to the appropriate manufacturing or warehouse locations.
• Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and forward receiving documentation to Purchasing.
• Maintain accurate inventory and issue materials to production as needed to prevent manufacturing delays.
• Store materials and finished goods in designated warehouse locations.

Shipping & Receiving

• Prepare, package, label, and stage customer orders for shipment.
• Select appropriate packaging materials to ensure products arrive safely.
• Coordinate with shipping carriers regarding special delivery requirements.
• Load and unload trucks using a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Move finished goods from the production area into inventory.

Safety & General Duties

• Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with training new employees as needed.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing operations.
• Previous forklift operating experience (certification preferred or ability to become certified).
• Basic computer and inventory management skills.
• Ability to read shipping documents and accurately verify materials.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of warehouse inventory practices.
• Experience using hand tools and packaging equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 60 pounds throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and industrial materials.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility and requires working safely around production equipment, forklifts, and warehouse traffic. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
