Shipping Department Laborer
HireCall is seeking a Shipping Department Laborer for one of our valued clients. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position in a busy shipping and receiving department.
This is not an Amazon-style warehouse position. The job involves heavy lifting, organizing parts, loading and unloading materials, and building wooden crates for shipment. Products can range from very small parts to extremely large components that are bigger than most vehicles and even some houses.
Job Details
- Pay: $17–$19 per hour, depending on experience
- Schedule: 5:30 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday
- Some Saturdays may be required
- Normal schedule is 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday, but current hours are extended due to workload
Job Responsibilities
- Load and unload parts and materials
- Organize and prepare parts for shipment
- Build wooden crates and shipping containers
- Use basic carpentry skills and hand tools
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood as needed
- Safely handle heavy and oversized materials
- Prepare products for shipment according to specifications
- Maintain an organized and clean work area
- Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines
Qualifications
- Previous shipping, warehouse, construction, carpentry, or manufacturing experience required
- Basic carpentry and hand-tool skills
- Comfortable using a tape measure
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials
- Ability to work around large and oversized parts
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding environment
- Must be willing to work extended hours and occasional Saturdays as needed
Physical Requirements
- Frequent heavy lifting and carrying
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing as needed
- Ability to safely handle large and awkward materials
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
