Openwork is currently hiring a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk for a busy warehouse operation in Houston, TX! The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for accurately picking, packing, preparing, and shipping customer orders while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick customer orders using pick lists, shipping documentation, and ERP systems
- Pack products securely to prevent damage during handling and transit
- Prepare outbound shipments by labeling, weighing, staging, and verifying orders
- Complete shipping documentation and system transactions accurately
- Maintain accurate tracking information, shipment records, and inventory updates
- Monitor and respond to group email inboxes and communicate with Receiving, Customer Service, and Operations
- Assist with resolving order discrepancies and delivery issues
- Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, safely
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and warehouse guidelines
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of shipping and/or receiving experience preferred
- Forklift and pallet jack experience preferred
- Forklift certification is a plus, but not required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Comfortable multitasking and meeting deadlines
- Strong communication skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Experience with ERP systems is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and working in warehouse conditions with seasonal temperature changes
Schedule & Pay:
Location: Houston, TX 77029
Pay: $17–$18/hour, depending on experience
Shift Options:
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM OR
- 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
