    Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk serves as a primary point of contact for customers, delivery drivers, and vendors coordinating shipments at our data center. This customer-facing role combines professional communication, shipment coordination, accurate recordkeeping, and hands-on package handling.

The ideal candidate is approachable, organized, and dependable, with a strong sense of ownership. Success in this position means ensuring customers receive timely updates, equipment is handled carefully, and every shipment is accurately documented from arrival through pickup or delivery.

    Work Environment & Physical Responsibilities

This position works onsite in a secure data center, with time spent at a workstation, on the loading dock, and in designated storage areas. Responsibilities include standing, walking, moving packages, and safely using approved material-handling equipment. Team assistance and equipment must be used when loads require additional support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide friendly, professional service to customers, carriers, vendors, and internal teams.
    • Coordinate inbound deliveries, outbound shipments, and customer pickups in accordance with site procedures.
    • Respond promptly to shipment inquiries and communicate delivery status, pickup instructions, delays, and discrepancies.
    • Receive and verify packages against shipping documentation, confirming the intended customer and destination.
    • Inspect deliveries for visible damage or shortages, document concerns, and promptly notify the appropriate parties.
    • Accurately record shipment details, tracking numbers, storage locations, and handoffs in ServiceNow or designated tracking systems.
    • Notify customers when shipments arrive and coordinate delivery to approved locations or pickup by authorized individuals.
    • Verify authorization before releasing equipment and maintain clear records of who received each shipment.
    • Prepare outbound shipments, confirm labels and documentation, and coordinate carrier pickups.
    • Keep the loading dock and storage areas clean, organized, secure, and clearly labeled.
    • Follow site security, access control, and safety procedures when handling customer equipment and coordinating deliveries.
    • Work closely with Service Delivery, Security, and Operations to resolve issues and support customer needs.
    • Take ownership of shipment concerns through resolution and escalate issues when additional support is needed.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Applicants must meet all requirements, including customer-contracting requirements, which will require U.S. Citizenship.
    • Experience in customer service, shipping and receiving, logistics, hospitality, or another service-focused role.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Comfortable using email, computer applications, and shipment tracking systems.
    • Ability to prioritize requests and remain professional during busy periods.
    • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and consistent follow-through.
    • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a team.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience supporting customers in a data center, technology facility, or secure environment.
    • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
    • Experience handling sensitive or high-value equipment.
    • Experience using pallet jacks or other material-handling equipment.
