Summary:
Shipper/Receiver performs all functions associated with material movement through the shipping/receiving/packaging department to receive material/product, distribute or store; package or repackage product, and ship product.
Performs associated paperwork and record keeping.
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment, repackaging, distribution, or storage.
Responsible for the loading, storage, and inventory control of raw materials, purchased materials, finished goods, and a variety of manufacturing supplies or materials.
Performs a wide variety of standard and specialized shipping including special documentation and custom packing, handling, and shipping procedures to comply with a wide variety of regulatory requirements.

Materials & Products
" Prepares incoming and outgoing raw materials and finished goods for both domestic and international distribution. May pack or repackage materials such as wheels, abrasives, grains or powders.
" Uses a variety of packaging equipment including automatic shrink, palletizing and wrapping systems, labeling systems and required materials and equipment to properly support and brace equipment in containers for domestic and international transportation.
Equipment
" Physical material handling, using various data systems activity transactions, receipt and export shipping documentation creation and inventory control. Utilizes SEDs (Supplier Export Declarations), truck bills (Bills of Lading), and NAFTA (North Atlantic Free Trade Association) certifications as required.
" Operates large material moving equipment and vehicles inside the warehouse and forklifts and related vehicles in outside holding areas.
" Utilizes computerized system for timely shipping, inventory control and A/P, A/R management and to retrieve accurate inventory and production reports.
" May be responsible for operating various equipment such as forklift trucks, bagging, shrink wrapping, laser marker, manned storage, retrieval vehicles, hand tools, and high-rise platform lifts, which may operate in narrow and constricted aisles.
Procedures
" Checks incoming goods for accuracy against packing slips and prepares for delivery. Records incoming material into the electronic receiving system, maintains and updates receiving files, and follows up with appropriate department regarding receipt issues.
" Packages outbound freight for transfer to carriers, couriers and brokers, and arranges for the transportation of products. Destinations include both domestic and international locations. Using the electronic shipping system, updates files and inventory and follows up with appropriate departments regarding shipping issues.
" May be responsible to operate conveyors and equipment to transfer grain, supersacks, or other materials from transportation vehicles and/or operate fork truck and other equipment to transport materials to and from loading docks, and to store and retrieve materials in warehouses.
" May pack and re-pack materials and or custom pack as required.
Qualifications:
" High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent experience.
" Fork truck operating license also required.
" This position requires up to 3 months' work experience to become proficient in all phases of the job to work independently.

Complexity
" Accurately identifies the typical incoming or outgoing materials, products, grains, powders, chemicals, and supplies to verify against the documents that accompany the materials and contents of all incoming shipments. Takes count, checks for damages, makes entries into systems for record keeping purposes.
" Verifies against the packing slip that the correct products are being shipped to the right customers in containers with proper cushioning or protection.
" Requires knowledge of the overall warehousing plan to efficiently place or to retrieve materials to maintain inventory integrity, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques.
Latitude of Judgment
" Determines sequences for loading materials and organize incoming shipments for maximum space. Utilizes specialized hazardous handling, storing, and safety procedures utilization, safety considerations, and damage protection.
" Handles incoming materials and unloading of trucks while receiving general instructions from a supervisor. Work is spot-checked upon completion for accuracy, adherence to requirements.
" Responsible to notify their supervisor whenever problems or discrepancies arise in the quantity for shipment or the amount received or paper work issues.
" Assignments are usually completed without guidance on methods, procedures, or techniques, and work is reviewed for compliance with general guidelines and results achieved.

" The Shipper / Receiver must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
" While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
" The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
Mental & Visual Demands
" Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
" While performing the duties of this job within the manufacturing environment, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
" The employee is occasionally exposed to heat, fumes, or airborne dust.
" The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Various PPE devices & equipment such as gloves, safety shoes, dust masks, hearing protection, and glasses may be required.
