    Life Skill Teacher

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

    • Develop, implement, evaluate, and/or review individual educational plans (IEPs) and participate fully in IEP team meetings.
    • Use assessment data to plan and implement appropriate instructional strategies in accordance with the approved curriculum and students IEPs
    • Provides individualized and small-group instruction
    • Assist individual students with self-care, hygiene, and daily living activities
    • Establish a structured classroom, along with student and staff individualized schedules
    • Plan for, coach, and collaborate with instructional assistants
    • Regularly lift students up to 40 lbs. individually and /or push students in wheelchairs over 100 lbs.
    • Understand and report upon the medical needs of students, including the constant use of universal precautions
    • Feed students or help students feed themselves
    • Evaluate and maintain accurate records as required by administration and Article 7, including student IEP progress monitoring, academic and social growth, incident reports, attendance, etc.
    • Implement strategies to keep students and parents informed of academic and behavioral performance, and respond to inquiries promptly
    • Develop, plan, and implement Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans as indicated by student performance, including interventions for crises
    • Facilitates and coordinates students participation in general education classes, where appropriate.
    • Knows corporation and school policies and special education regulations
    • Handles the clerical functions and complies with district, IEP, and evaluation timelines
    • Actively participate in building-level multidisciplinary teams
    • Maintains satisfactory attendance
    • Complies with Corporation Bylaws, Policies, and Employee Handbook
    • Models Corporation Mission Statement and Fundamental Objective
