    Job Summary:

    The Sheetmetal Shop Coordinator is responsible for processing, scheduling, and furnishing sheet metal prefabrication documents to support shop and field installation crews. This role serves as the primary liaison between design, fabrication, and field operations to ensure materials are fabricated accurately, efficiently, and delivered on schedule. The Coordinator plays a key role in improving productivity, reducing waste, and supporting project schedules through effective prefabrication planning.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and schedule sheet metal prefabrication activities in alignment with project schedules and field installation needs.
    • Utilize Computer Aided Manufacturing software to process field orders and model fabrication data.
    • Review drawings, specifications, and BIM models to identify prefabrication opportunities.
    • Provide shop administrative support and work closely with BIM/VDC teams and field supervisors to plan prefabricated assemblies.
    • Prepare and maintain prefabrication schedules, material lists, and work packages.
    • Ensure fabricated components meet quality standards, design requirements, and installation tolerances.
    • Coordinate material procurement and ensure timely availability of materials for fabrication.
    • Track fabrication progress and communicate status updates to project teams.
    • Assist in resolving design conflicts, fabrication issues, and field coordination challenges.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to prefabrication efficiency, safety, and cost control.
    • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and shop safety procedures.
    • Maintain accurate documentation related to prefabrication workflows and deliveries.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Strong understanding of commercial sheet metal systems and installation practices.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
    • Working knowledge of prefabrication methods and workflows.
    • Strong organizational and scheduling skills with attention to detail.
    • Effective communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
    • Problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify constructability and efficiency improvements.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Technical training in construction, sheet metal, or a related field preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in commercial sheet metal fabrication, installation, or coordination preferred.
    • Experience working with prefabrication shops or construction project teams strongly preferred.
    • Trimble Fabshop or CAMduct software experience preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to work in a shop or construction environment.
    • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout shop areas.
    • Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds.
