Description

Position Summary: The Sewer Maintenance Operator in the Public Works - Sewer Division is responsible for assisting and supporting the location of water and sewer utilities using multiple maps and utility locating equipment. This role also involves assisting in the repair of water and sewer infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with team members to perform water and sewer locate requests through the NM811 portal.
• Utilize various maps and utility locating equipment to accurately identify water and sewer utilities.
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer infrastructure.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Participate in routine maintenance and repairs of sewer systems.
• Assist in emergency response activities as needed.
• Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of all equipment and tools.
• Support the Sewer Supervisor in various tasks related to sewer maintenance.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• 4 years of relevant experience.
• NM Water Certification Level II.
• NM Class D Drivers License.

Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in using utility locating equipment.
• Knowledge of water and sewer systems.
• Strong commitment to safety practices.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks.

Working Conditions:

• This role may involve outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Physical demands may include bending, lifting, and extended periods of standing or walking.
• This position is subject to on call status
