ServiceNow SAM Developer

Leidos is seeking an experienced ServiceNow SAM Developer to join our Strategic Operations Project Team that is chartered to transition AFDW ITSM BMC Helix to ServiceNow.

As a ServiceNow Developer, you will be the hands-on engineering force behind the IT Service Management (ITSM) modernization efforts for the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) and the Department of the Air Force (DAF). Working in close coordination with architects and business stakeholders, you will build, configure, and deploy the automated workflows, custom applications, and system integrations that replace legacy, siloed processes. Your ability to write clean code, establish modern API integrations, and leverage ServiceNow out-of-the-box capabilities is vital to delivering secure, efficient, and user-centric solutions that directly support DAF mission readiness and day-to-day operations.

The Challenge:

• SAM & ITAM Module Engineering.
• Module Configuration: Build, configure, and maintain ServiceNow SAM Pro, SaaS Management, and related HAM Pro integrations.
• License & Compliance Operations: Implement and maintain software entitlement models, license metrics, normalization rules, and automated reconciliation engines.
• Lifecycle Automation: Design end-to-end asset lifecycle automations (e.g., software request, allocation, harvesting/reclamation, renewal, and retirement) using Flow Designer, Workflow Editor, and Scoped Applications.
• Platform Development & Customization.
• Full-Lifecycle Development: Design, code, debug, test, document, and deploy scalable solutions across the ServiceNow platform.
• Core Scripting & Logic: Implement clean, maintainable logic using Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, UI Policies, and Service Portal widgets following strict enterprise coding standards.
• Data Architecture: Optimize ServiceNow data models, CMDB relationships, and asset table schemas for performance and integrity.
• Integrations, Data Management & Reporting.
• Data Ingestion & Mapping: Execute data imports, transform maps, and scheduled jobs to synchronize third-party discovery data, vendor portals, and procurement systems.
• Analytics & Visibility: Build and maintain actionable SAM dashboards, executive compliance reports, custom database views, and automated audit reports.
• Release, Maintenance & Governance.
• Deployment & Change Management: Prepare technical design specifications and migrate update sets/scoped applications across sub-production and production instances.
• Upgrades & Testing: Lead unit testing, resolve defects, support platform upgrades, patching, and automated test framework (ATF) validations.
• Emerging Platform Capabilities: Explore and integrate ServiceNow AI innovations (e.g., Now Assist and AI agents) to optimize asset operations and user self-service.
• Stakeholder Collaboration & Enablement.
• Requirements Translation: Partner closely with IT Asset Managers, Procurement, and ITIL process owners to translate business licensing rules into technical platform specifications.
• Knowledge Transfer: Author technical architecture documents, administrative runbooks, and user-facing knowledge bases; mentor and onboard fellow team members.

What Sets You Apart:

• Requires a Bachelors degree computer science, Information Systems, IT, Engineering, or related field and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• At least 4 years of ServiceNow development and scripting experience (JavaScript, Glide APIs, HTML, XML), with deep proficiency in Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, and API integrations.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or ServiceNow Certified Application Developer, required.
• Advanced ServiceNow Certifications: Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in ITSM, preferred.
• Strong expertise in ITAM (SAM/HAM) and ITOM (CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping) modules.
• Proven experience in large-scale ServiceNow implementations and platform governance.

You Might Also Have:

• Master's degree in IT or a related field.
• Certified Application Developer.
• ITIL v4 Foundations Certification, a plus.
• BMC Helix or BMC Remedy experience.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
