As a ServiceNow Development Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing Schwab's HR Service Delivery (HRSD) platform by delivering scalable, reliable solutions that improve how employees and HR teams engage with services at scale. Working within an enterprise ServiceNow environment that supports tens of thousands of users, you will contribute to enhancing platform usability, driving operational consistency, and enabling automation that improves both employee and agent experiences.
In this role, you will apply a strong blend of technical problem-solving and practical decision-making to deliver moderately complex platform enhancements and configurations. You'll collaborate closely with product owners, HR partners, and engineering teams to translate business needs into efficient, standards-aligned solutions. Your work will directly influence platform performance, service quality, and process optimization, helping teams operate more effectively within a structured, governance-driven environment.
You will also contribute to improving system reliability and scalability by supporting integrations, automation capabilities, and release processes. Through continuous learning and a focus on adaptability, you'll identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen compliance, and enhance the overall employee experience. This role offers the opportunity to build deep expertise in ServiceNow HRSD while expanding your ability to influence platform outcomes and deliver meaningful business impact.
What you have
To ensure that we fulfill our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have:
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of software development experience, including support of production applications
- 2+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow capabilities such as server-side scripting, client-side scripting, workflows, and data models
- Experience designing or supporting HR Service Delivery (HRSD) or case management solutions
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and system integrations
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving moderately complex technical issues in live environments
- Experience applying security, compliance, and scalability practices in development and configuration
- Experience supporting testing, quality assurance, and release management processes
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
- Experience working in enterprise, cloud-based environments within structured development lifecycle frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ServiceNow HR Service Delivery (HRSD) in a large-scale enterprise environment
- Exposure to platform automation capabilities such as Now Assist or similar tools
- Experience supporting integrations with HR systems such as Workday
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to assess tradeoffs and recommend practical solutions
- Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing enhancements
