Position Overview:
As a Service Technician at Numotion, based at our Harrisburg - Kreider Drive location, you will play a critical role in servicing and repairing complex manual and powered wheelchairs, as well as other essential medical equipment. This is a full-time, regular at-will position with no travel required. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturer specifications and the ability to use current resources to ensure proper repair, maintenance, and functionality of our products. You will directly contribute to customer satisfaction, ensuring the equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for the individuals who depend on it every day.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and Repair Equipment: Identify issues, obtain quotes, and repair equipment both in the shop and in the field. Utilize manufacturer specifications and available resources to ensure all repairs meet quality and safety standards.

Maintain Stock Equipment: Keep rental and stock equipment clean, organized, and in reliable working order for customer use. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment readiness.

Work Environment Maintenance: Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop and warehouse at all times. Adhere to all workplace safety protocols and organizational standards.

Delivery Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain delivery vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition, keeping them clean and organized. Report any vehicle issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.

Parts Management: Receive, store, and ship parts for equipment, ensuring accurate inventory tracking. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to maintain adequate parts availability and minimize repair delays.

Accurate Documentation: Complete documentation in a thorough and timely manner, including obtaining necessary signatures and submitting reports. Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts used, and customer interactions in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Customer Education: Educate customers and caregivers on proper use, care, and safety of the equipment to enhance longevity and user safety. Provide clear, compassionate communication to ensure customers feel confident and supported in using their mobility solutions.

Equipment Fitting and Adjustments: Perform minor fittings and adjustments to ensure that the equipment is customized and comfortable for each user. Collaborate with clinical staff as needed to ensure optimal equipment configuration.

Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for yourself, colleagues, and customers. Stay current with OSHA guidelines and company-specific safety policies.

Training and Development: Participate in required in-service training to stay updated with the latest industry practices and product knowledge. Embrace opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to meet the physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and pull or push equipment weighing over 100 lbs as necessary. The role also requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, and kneeling, as well as strong manual dexterity for equipment manipulation and repairs. The ability to work in inclement weather conditions during field operations and to work overtime when required based on business needs is also essential.

Required Skills
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools for equipment repair and maintenance
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment issues
  • Basic computer skills including word processing, email, and internet navigation for documentation and communication
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturer specifications and technical manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly assess situations and make sound decisions
  • Excellent attention to detail for accurate documentation and parts inventory management

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations applicable to a shop and warehouse environment

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid State Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push or pull equipment weighing over 100 lbs
  • Manual dexterity for precise equipment manipulation and repair tasks
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing work environments


Required Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required, or a minimum of one year of related work experience
  • Minimum of two years of relevant mechanical experience in a repair or maintenance role
  • Experience with medical equipment, mobility devices, or assistive technology is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with wheelchair repair or complex rehabilitation technology is highly desirable
  • Experience performing equipment diagnostics, obtaining repair quotes, and executing repairs in both shop and field settings
  • Experience maintaining inventory and managing parts receiving, storage, and shipping
  • Experience completing detailed technical documentation and maintaining accurate records
  • Experience educating customers or end-users on equipment operation, care, and safety
  • Experience maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities with attention to detail
  • Experience with vehicle maintenance and ensuring safe operating conditions of fleet vehicles is a plus
  • Experience participating in in-service training and professional development programs
  • Experience collaborating with clinical or customer service teams to ensure optimal equipment configuration and customer satisfaction
