Service Technician

The role requires timely and efficient response to customer inquiries and requests, scheduling travel to customer locations, and performing preventive maintenance, upgrades, or improvements on existing machines. Prepare service and expense reports and forward them to the Field Service Coordinator and Accounting immediately upon completion of a trip, submitting receipts and documentation related to any service visit.

Job Summary

The position involves providing technical support to customers related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment. The role requires timely and efficient response to customer inquiries and requests, scheduling travel to customer locations, and performing preventive maintenance, upgrades, or improvements on existing machines. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, or requests regarding the operation of our manufactured machines in a timely and efficient manner.
• Schedule and arrange travel to customer locations to install new machines, troubleshoot problems, diagnose issues, and develop repair plans.
• Evaluate resources needed and assess materials and time for project completion, including ordering necessary components.
• Schedule visits for preventive maintenance, upgrades, or improvements with existing machine customers.
• Coordinate with Customer Service regarding warranties and liabilities per machine.
• Assist the Machine Build Department in assembling machines when needed.
• Support Sales, Engineering, Media, or other departments by communicating customer concerns and requests, including complaints, RFQs, and orders.
• Update Salesforce.com regarding service calls conducted, repairs made, and parts used.
• Follow up with customer re-orders for spare parts, media, or tooling.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or 3-5 years of experience providing technical services to customers in the absence of an engineering degree.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
• Proficiency in using mechanical and electrical measuring tools, such as micrometers, calipers, DMMs, and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to read mechanical, engineering, or other drawings, prints, and schematics.
• Proficient in safely using hand tools.
• PLC knowledge is a plus.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
• Ability to reach above shoulder level and stoop to floor level.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Location and Schedule

Based in Irwin, Pennsylvania, USA, this full-time hourly position requires up to 80% travel to support our customers. Travel is primarily US-based but may extend to Canada and Mexico. Many technicians return home every weekend, but travel may require being away for up to 1-2 weeks at a time.
