What you will do::

The Service Technician is responsible for performing service, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and warranty work at customer locations and jobsites. This role diagnoses product issues, performs repairs and adjustments, documents completed work, and delivers an exceptional customer experience throughout every service visit. Depending on the business unit, work may include doors, windows, millwork, building products, equipment, or related systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, customer-focused, and committed to safety, quality workmanship, and operational excellence.

 

  • Service & Field Repairs

    • Perform scheduled service, maintenance, warranty, repair, and adjustment work at customer locations.
    • Diagnose product, installation, and operational issues and determine the appropriate repair solution.
    • Complete repairs and adjustments according to manufacturer specifications, company standards, and customer expectations.
    • Inspect completed work for quality and recommend additional repairs, replacement parts, or follow-up service when needed.

    Service Preparation & Documentation

    • Review work orders before service calls and ensure all necessary tools, materials, and replacement parts are available.
    • Load and organize company vehicles with the products, equipment, tools, and materials needed for scheduled service.
    • Accurately complete service tickets, warranty paperwork, photographs, material requests, and repair documentation.
    • Document service findings and communicate any additional work or follow-up needs to the appropriate team.

    Customer Service

    • Communicate professionally with customers regarding arrival times, service needs, repair status, and completed work.
    • Explain repairs and recommendations in a clear and helpful manner and respond to customer questions or concerns.
    • Provide a positive customer experience while representing QXO professionally at every service visit.

    Vehicle, Equipment & Operational Support

    • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and service inventory in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
    • Perform routine vehicle and equipment inspections and promptly report damage, malfunctions, shortages, or safety concerns.
    • Communicate recurring product or installation issues and assist with coordinating replacement materials or future service visits.

    Safety & Quality

    • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, safe work practices, and PPE requirements.
    • Maintain clean and safe work areas at customer locations and within company vehicles.
    • Identify and report unsafe conditions, accidents, near misses, product quality concerns, or equipment issues.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you will bring::
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a focus on quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Previous experience in field service, maintenance, warranty, construction, or a related industry; experience servicing doors, windows, millwork, or other building products is preferred.
  • Ability to install, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair products using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other service equipment.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organization, and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and manage changing priorities throughout the day.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or an associate degree is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to qualify for company vehicle insurance; frequent travel to customer homes, jobsites, and other locations is required.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physical work for extended periods, including lifting up to 75 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance; overtime or extended hours may occasionally be required.
