    Position Overview

Vivant is looking for a Service Technician with strong networking troubleshooting skills, a broad low-voltage background, and the ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field.

This role requires someone who can assess a situation, figure out what is wrong, determine the best solution, and execute it with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has lead technician experience, takes ownership of problems, and can adapt when a situation does not go as planned.

    Requirements

    1. Network Troubleshooting: Must understand networking fundamentals and be able to diagnose and resolve common network issues, including connectivity, equipment, and cabling problems.
    2. Problem-Solving: Strong ability to investigate unfamiliar issues, identify root causes, think critically, and determine how to resolve situations without relying on step-by-step instructions.
    3. Adaptability and Coachability: Must be adaptable, willing to learn new technologies and processes, and able to apply feedback to improve performance.
    4. Independent Work and Leadership: Must be self-sufficient, capable of managing field assignments independently, and have prior lead technician experience or equivalent experience taking ownership of jobs and guiding others.
    5. Broad Low-Voltage Experience: Hands-on experience with multiple types of low-voltage systems, including:
      • Network installations, routers, switches, access points, and structured cabling.
      • Security camera installations, configuration, and troubleshooting.
      • Low-voltage cabling, terminations, testing, and equipment installation.
      • Additional experience with access control, alarm systems, or related technologies is a plus.
    6. Resourcefulness: Must be comfortable working through unexpected problems, using available resources, testing possible solutions, and finding a way forward when the answer is not immediately obvious.

    The Ideal Candidate

We need a technician who knows how to figure things out. Someone who does not stop when the job differs from the original plan, immediately depend on someone else for answers, or simply report that something is not working.

They should be able to assess the situation, troubleshoot methodically, identify the problem, implement a solution, and communicate clearly when additional support is genuinely needed.

The priority is a resourceful, technically capable problem-solver who can work independently in the field, not just an installer who follows instructions.

    Benefits

Healthcare, recognition and rewards, company events, and a real path to promotion.

    Pay and Bonus

    • $25–$40/hr, based on experience.
    • $1,500 bonus after 90 days for:
      • Hitting your KPIs
      • No unapproved absences
      • Completing installs on schedule, per the SOW and our standards

    Schedule

    • Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
    • Some projects run late or need weekend work
    • Mostly DFW, with about 25% travel outside the market

    How to Apply

Answer every screening question. Applications without a written answer to the troubleshooting scenario will not be reviewed.
