About the companyEstablished locally owned chimney and hearth company serving the area since 1987. We need mechanically skilled, hands-on people for a true trade role—not just chimney sweeping. Work includes gas and pellet stove repair, chimney rebuilds, fireplace and insert installs, and stone veneer. We train chimney-specific skills through a structured apprenticeship. We look for people who take pride in craftsmanship and want to move into lead or senior roles.
The rolePhysically active, technical, construction-oriented work. Diagnose and repair heating appliances; install and rebuild chimneys and fireplaces. Best fit: mechanical aptitude from construction, HVAC, automotive, appliance repair, or similar trades, plus willingness to learn masonry and chimney systems.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair gas and pellet stoves (electronics, ignition, venting)
- Perform chimney/fireplace inspections and sweeps
- Rebuild and repair chimneys (tear-downs, crowns, flues)
- Install fireplaces and wood, gas, and pellet inserts
- Install stone veneer on fireplaces, chimneys, and exteriors
- Complete masonry repairs: tuckpointing, brick replacement, dampers, caps, liners
- Troubleshoot fireplaces, stoves, and venting
- Give honest recommendations, write estimates, and deliver strong customer service
- Keep accurate records and follow safety protocols
RequirementsWe value real hands-on ability over prior chimney experience.
Required:
- Proven mechanical aptitude diagnosing and repairing equipment (electronics, HVAC, vehicles, appliances, or similar)
- Hands-on construction or trade background
- Comfort working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and use power tools daily
- Reliable, accountable, and motivated to grow into leadership
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license, clean record, and reliable transportation
Preferred (paid training provided):
- Gas systems, electrical diagnosis, or masonry/stone work
- CSIA, NFI, NCSG, or similar certifications
- Fireplace install, stone veneer, or chimney rebuild experience
TrainingNo chimney experience required. Solid hands-on skills and a drive to learn are enough. Our apprenticeship trains you step by step and supports industry certifications.
