Your Job
Trinity Sales and Rental is seeking a driven, systems-minded Service Supervisor to build and lead a service organization that consistently delivers safe, reliable, rent-ready equipment. The role owns daily shop priorities, technician assignments, preventive maintenance, and fleet readiness while developing technicians through coaching and accountability. Success is measured by building a safe, productive Service Department that develops capable people, keeps Trinity's fleet dependable and rent-ready, and operates through repeatable systems rather than constant firefighting.
What You Will Do
• Own technician workload, daily repair priorities, and shop scheduling.
• Own quality control — confirm equipment is genuinely rent-ready before release, and support preparation for sale or disposition.
• Own preventive maintenance planning and execution, balancing emergency repairs, PM, sales prep, and customer work.
• Own shop workflow and repair sequencing; oversee parts ordering, pricing, inventory levels, and vendor coordination to keep repairs moving.
• Develop technicians and administrative personnel through coaching, training, and regular one-on-ones; lead service and safety meetings.
• Monitor shop productivity and service KPIs — readiness, backlog, PM, 90-Day and annual inspection completion, turnaround time.
• Own the full employment lifecycle for the service department — workforce planning, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, corrective action, and termination decisions.
• Communicate proactively with Fleet, Finance, Sales, Rental Counter, and Dispatch on equipment status and timelines, escalating resource constraints early.
• Build repeatable service systems, continuously improve shop processes and safety, and perform other duties as assigned.
• Proven supervisory or lead experience in an equipment service, shop, or fleet-maintenance environment.
• Strong leadership skills — able to coach, develop, and hold technicians accountable.
• Operational discipline — able to prioritize repairs, plan preventive maintenance, and build repeatable systems.
• Genuine technical curiosity with sound equipment judgment and a drive to understand failures and root causes (being the top technician is not required).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfort with shop KPIs and productivity metrics, and the ability to learn rental, inventory, and service software quickly.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
• Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs., and seldom up to 75 lbs.
• Regular standing, walking, and movement between indoor office, counter, shop, and outdoor yard areas.
• Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures in shop and yard environments.
• Local travel between Trinity branches and to customer projects as needed.
What Will Put You Ahead
• Prior experience as a Service Manager, Shop Foreman, or Service Supervisor in equipment rental, construction supply, or industrial distribution.
• Knowledge of construction and industrial equipment, boom lifts and dirt equipment and their maintenance requirements.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and annual equipment inspections.
• Experience building service KPIs, scheduling systems, or shop workflow processes, and mentoring technicians into more capable roles.
