Assumes responsibility for the coordination of both clinical and leadership duties by maintaining a suitable environment for patient care; assisting staff with ethical, legal and patient/family advocacy issues; demonstrating knowledge and clinical expertise and aiding staff to develop the same; as well as developing and implementing policies, procedures and systems that support the clinical practice in the department. Functions as the head of the Surgical Services leadership team and is responsible for coordination of the entire health care team in the Surgical Services Department (operating room, pre-op, same day surgery, PACU, pain clinic, infusions, GI suite, pre-admission testing, and scheduling) for adult and pediatric patients.
