The Service Line CRD partners with Regional Support Clinical Resource Directors (RSCRDs), physicians, clinical leaders, Supply Chain Operations and other enterprise functions to translate service-line strategy into action. This role is distinct from regional support: the Service Line CRD owns the clinical and economic strategy for the assigned portfolio, while RSCRDs coordinate regional intake, execution and follow-through. The position requires confidence, effective communication, independent action, initiative, business acumen and the ability to influence physician and stakeholder adoption across the organization. What you will do in this role: Develops and implements enterprise service-line strategies to reduce clinically addressable supply expense, improve cost per case and contribution margin and optimize outcomes with physicians, clinical leaders and Supply Chain stakeholders. Identifies service-line variation in supply expense, utilization, pricing and physician practice and develops action plans to address the highest-value opportunities; participates in operating reviews and performance planning as appropriate. Builds relationships with high-volume and high-opportunity physicians and clinical leaders to understand product-selection rationale, distinguish clinically necessary variation from preference-driven variation and advance appropriate standardization and utilization strategies. Uses clinical value analysis to review new and existing products, supply-chain initiatives, retrospective product performance and technology requests, incorporating clinical evidence, quality, safety, reimbursement, procedure economics and financial impact. Works cross-functionally with RSCRDs and partner teams to align service-line initiatives with HCA standards, Supply Chain priorities and enterprise goals. Defines service-line clinical standards, conversion priorities, utilization expectations and adoption goals; partners with RSCRDs, Materials Coordinators, Supply Chain Operations and Operating Room Inventory and Cost Control (ORICC) to support implementation and sustained adoption. Provides clinical direction for communication and education related to product, technology, procedure and standard changes; RSCRDs and other support teams coordinate regional execution and follow-through. Collaborates with suppliers and internal partners to evaluate product solutions, alternatives, technology, implementation requirements and education needs while upholding credentialing policies and vendor codes of conduct. Provides clinical leadership during significant recalls, shortages, backorders, substitutions or supply disruptions when clinical equivalency, physician engagement, service-line standards or material economics require escalation beyond routine operations. Maintains command of the supplier and contract landscape for the assigned service line, including contracted suppliers, pricing, tiers, rebates, commitments, market share, off-contract utilization and conversion dependencies. Collaborates with Corporate Contracting to provide clinical, utilization, physician and economic insight that informs sourcing strategy and purchase decisions. Corporate Contracting retains accountability for sourcing, negotiation, pricing, terms and contract administration. Collaborates with Pharmacy when medication utilization, formulary decisions or pharmaceutical cost materially affect procedure economics or service-line strategy. Partners with RSCRDs on National Product Formularies, conversions and enterprise initiatives; provides service-line direction and escalation support while RSCRDs coordinate SVP-aligned implementation and follow-through. Manages projects within scope, time and budget; establishes action steps, milestones, accountabilities and outcome measures required to implement service-line initiatives and realize clinical and financial results. Builds relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs, set achievable expectations and identify opportunities to improve products, processes and services.
