IT Service Desk / Desktop Support Technician
Location: Kansas City, KS
Class/Area: DSTI / IT
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- Shift: Evening
- Hours: 8-hour shifts
- Shift Time: 3:00 PM 11:30 PM
- Rotation: 8 days on / 2 days off, followed by 7 days on / 4 days off
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month
- Holiday Requirement: Holidays required when they fall within the scheduled rotation
- Floating: None
- On-Call: None
Orientation & Training
- Monday: New Employee Orientation
- Tuesday: Customer Service Training
- Remainder of the Week: Training on the assigned unit
- Non-Billable Orientation: 8 hours
Position Overview
The IT Service Desk / Desktop Support Technician will provide technical support to end users by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality customer service while supporting users through multiple communication channels, including phone, email, online chat, remote support, and in-person assistance.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Computer Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, or a minimum of two years of equivalent IT experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Strong customer service, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to provide technical support by phone, email, online chat, remotely, and in person.
- High school diploma required.
- Microsoft Windows certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first six months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Call Center or Service Desk experience.
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, configuring, and upgrading computer equipment.
- Experience documenting service tickets and working within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Experience providing basic technical training to end users.
New Graduates
Yes. New graduates are accepted if they possess an Associate degree in Computer Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
Candidates without the required degree may qualify with a minimum of two years of relevant IT experience.
