    Job Title:

    Service Administrator (Diesel Engines, Generators)


    Type of Position:

    This position will begin as a 6-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 6 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.


    Job Location:

    Rocky Hill, CT (on site role).


    Compensation:

    $36.00/hr to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours)


    Benefits:

    • Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) – benefit eligibility begins the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
    • This role will have 5 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.


    Job Description:

    HRU Technical Resources has partnered with an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration, and power generation products to hire a Service Administrator (Diesel Engines, Generators). As a Service Advisor, you are the face and voice of the branch. You are the 1st person customers reach when they call or walk through the door, and the quality of that first interaction sets the tone for the entire service experience. 


    This is a fast-paced, people-first role built for someone who thrives on juggling multiple priorities while delivering white-glove service every single time. You will keep the service operation running smoothly by fielding customer requests, providing accurate quotes, scheduling appointments, creating work orders, and keeping communication clear between customers and internal teams.     What You’ll Do:

    • Serve as the first point of contact for customers by phone, email, and in person, creating a positive and professional experience from the very first interaction.
    • Assess customer needs, ask the right questions, and gather the information required to open accurate work orders in the appropriate systems.
    • Provide quotes and schedule service appointments efficiently and accurately.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, becoming a trusted point of contact they rely on.
    • Keep customers informed with clear, timely status updates throughout the service process.
    • Document customer, equipment, and service information accurately in business systems for billing, tracking, and historical records.
    • Coordinate with technicians and internal teams to ensure work is scheduled, prioritized, and completed on time.
    • Support warranty documentation by capturing the information needed for accurate claims and settlement.
    • Handle high volumes of customer interaction with professionalism, patience, and attention to detail.


    What We're Looking For:

    Required 

    • High school diploma OR GED is required at a minimum. Higher level education is welcome. 
    • Approximately 1-3 years of experience in an automotive service, equipment service, repair facility, dealership, service-advisor, service-writer, or related customer-service environment.
    • Strong customer-service and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Ability to manage a high volume of phone calls, emails, customer requests, appointments, and work orders.
    • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn service-management, scheduling, quoting, and work-order systems.
    • Ability to gather technical information and document customer concerns clearly and accurately.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Ability to work effectively with customers, technicians, service personnel, and internal departments.
    • Professional appearance, communication style, and workplace conduct.
    • Dependable attendance and punctuality.

    Preferred

    • Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor, Service Writer, Service Coordinator, Customer Service Advisor, or similar position.
    • Experience supporting diesel engines, commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, generators, industrial equipment, or related products.
    • Previous power-generation service experience.
    • Familiarity with service quotes, repair orders, warranties, claims, parts, or maintenance scheduling.
    • Experience using dealership-management, service-management, CRM, ERP, or electronic work-order systems.
    • Basic mechanical or technical aptitude.


    Work Environment / Other Info:

    • This is a 1st (day) shift role. Hours will generally be 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
    • This will be a 100% on site role (no hybrid / remote work).  
    • There may be occasional overtime as needed (OT won’t be extensive). Any overtime will be paid at 1.5x.
    • Offer may be contingent upon a drug screen (which may include cannabis) and a background check. This position may require compliance with applicable export control or sanctions regulations.
