Job Title: Server Test Engineer
Job Description
A leading global technology organization is seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Server Test Engineer to support server manufacturing operations within a state-of-the-art U.S. fulfillment and production facility. In this role, you drive server test operations, ensure product quality, optimize manufacturing processes, and maintain alignment with global engineering and manufacturing standards. You provide technical leadership, support production testing activities, resolve complex technical issues, and collaborate closely with engineering, logistics, quality, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performance server platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team responsible for server testing and validation activities in a high-volume production environment.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of server hardware and system components, including x86 server platforms.
- Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and validation procedures for server hardware and firmware.
- Analyze test results, identify trends and anomalies, and clearly communicate findings to engineering and operations teams.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track hardware and firmware defects using structured defect management practices.
- Work closely with engineering teams to drive issue resolution, implement corrective actions, and improve product reliability.
- Participate in design reviews and specification assessments to influence product quality and testability at early stages.
- Support manufacturing readiness activities and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives across production lines.
- Ensure compliance with global quality, validation, and production standards throughout all test operations.
- Drive operational excellence through data-driven decision making, KPI management, and rigorous performance tracking.
- Apply strong hardware troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and resolve complex server issues on the production floor.
- Support and optimize production testing workflows, including PXE/DHCP-based deployment and test automation where applicable.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, logistics, quality, and operations teams to align testing with business objectives.
- Influence cross-functional teams and provide leadership in establishing best practices for server validation and test processes.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and process optimization within the manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of server hardware testing and validation experience, preferably in manufacturing, production, or data center hardware environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with server hardware validation and testing, including x86 server platforms.
- Solid understanding of server architecture, including BIOS/UEFI and BMC configuration and behavior.
- Experience with firmware validation and platform integration for enterprise server systems.
- Knowledge of server management protocols such as Redfish and IPMI, with the ability to apply them in test and troubleshooting scenarios.
- Experience administering Windows Server or Linux operating systems in support of test and validation activities.
- Strong hardware troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex server issues.
- Familiarity with enterprise operating systems and virtualization technologies used in server environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making and process improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting test results, defects, and technical recommendations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience influencing cross-functional teams to adopt best practices and drive issue resolution.
- Leadership experience in high-volume production environments, including team support and KPI-focused performance management.
- Continuous improvement and process optimization mindset, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Bachelor"s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Intel-based server platforms and NVIDIA GPU server technologies.
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA GPU server experience in test or production environments.
- Knowledge of PLDM and related platform management protocols.
- Experience with PXE deployment and DHCP configuration for automated server provisioning and testing.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Mebane, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
