Server Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Server Engineer to support IT infrastructure and systems within a Quality Control (QC) laboratory environment. This is an onsite opportunity working as part of a high-performing infrastructure engineering team supporting critical laboratory systems and business applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, virtualization, workstation/server troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure supporting laboratory or other specialized equipment.

What You'll Do

• Provide hands-on technical support for IT infrastructure and systems supporting laboratory operations.
  
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  
• Support Windows Server 2000 through Windows Server 2022, including legacy operating systems.
  
• Administer Active Directory, including users, groups, permissions, and Group Policy.
  
• Build and configure virtual servers using VMware vCenter.
  
• Support Windows workstation operating systems, including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11.
  
• Configure and troubleshoot applications on workstations and servers in coordination with vendors.
  
• Install and support server hardware, storage, and related infrastructure, including rack installation.
  
• Troubleshoot server, workstation, network, and connectivity issues.
  
• Use IT service management/ticketing systems such as ServiceNow to document and manage incidents and requests.
  
• Work directly with laboratory users, vendors, and non-IT stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  
• Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, implementations, and system deployments.
  
• Follow established procedures and documentation requirements in a highly controlled technical environment.
  

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure/server engineering experience, preferably supporting laboratory equipment or specialized technical environments.
  
• Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server, including legacy and current versions.
  
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  
• Experience building and managing virtual servers using VMware vCenter.
  
• Experience supporting Windows desktop operating systems.
  
• Strong server, workstation, and network troubleshooting skills.
  
• Experience with endpoint/security or monitoring tools such as SCCM, Microsoft System Center, Splunk, Carbon Black, McAfee, or similar technologies.
  
• Experience configuring applications and systems in collaboration with third-party vendors.
  
• Experience with ServiceNow or a similar IT ticketing/ITSM platform.
  
• Ability to install and work with server hardware, storage, and rack-mounted equipment.
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team and business users.
  

Nice to Have

• Experience working in a regulated environment, such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical, financial services, or defense.
  
• PowerShell scripting experience.
  
• Networking experience, including basic network troubleshooting and connectivity concepts.
  
• Experience supporting laboratory, manufacturing, or other specialized technical equipment.
