Position Overview:
The Sensor Operator supports space operations by operating and monitoring sensor systems in support of Space Situational Awareness (SSA). The role performs sensor operations supporting the detection, tracking, and characterization of space objects.
The Sensor Operator also supports routine satellite operations by monitoring system health and performance, identifying and reporting anomalies, and assisting with activities necessary to maintain safe and reliable operations.
Responsibilities:- Operate radar and sensor systems to track satellites and perform data acquisition in accordance with operational requirements.
- Monitor sensor telemetry and execute established procedures to support safe and reliable operations.
- Detect, assess, document, and respond to system anomalies.
- Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and support system recovery.
- Follow established operational procedures and accurately communicate system status and issues.
- Support operations across multiple local facilities as required.
Required Qualifications:- Associate degree or equivalent education/experience.
- Active Department of Defense Secret security clearance or higher.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team.
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and multiple shifts.
- Ability to work 100% onsite.
Preferred Qualifications:- Previous sensor operations experience.
- Familiarity with satellite orbital regimes and orbital mechanics.
- Experience working in UNIX/Linux environments.
- MATLAB experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Security Clearance:
An active
DoD Secret clearance or higher is required for consideration. The position requires access to classified information. Candidates must also be willing and able to obtain and maintain a higher-level security clearance as required by the position.
Onsite Requirement:
This is primarily a
100% onsite position due to the nature of the work. Limited remote flexibility may occasionally be available based on operational requirements, but there are no regularly scheduled remote workdays.
Schedule Requirements:
40 hours per week, with scheduling that may include weekends and holidays. Candidates must have flexibility between day and mid shifts, with the primary current need being
3:00 PM11:00 PM coverage. Flexibility to support different shifts, local facilities, and occasional coverage outside normal hours is required.
