Senior Web Developer

Our client is looking for a Senior Web Developer with strong expertise in WordPress and frontend development to join our team. You will play a critical role in building, maintaining, and enhancing polished frontend experiences that are responsive, accessible, and performant, with purposeful movement and thoughtful interactions that bring them to life. Your mastery of both core and custom Gutenberg block development, combined with a solid grasp of backend processes and the ability to work across the WordPress stack, will be essential to delivering a scalable, dynamic, and cohesive web ecosystem. Key Responsibilities:

• Build performant, accessible, and responsive user interfaces for our consumer-facing WordPress websites.
• Collaborate with strategy, design, and UX teams to define thoughtful animations and interactive experiences that enhance usability and reinforce the brand.
• Translate visual and interaction concepts into reusable, maintainable WordPress components while ensuring design consistency.
• Develop and maintain custom Gutenberg blocks using native block APIs and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) to create dynamic, flexible content experiences.
• Optimize frontend performance, page load times, and Core Web Vitals for SEO and user experience across all devices
• Integrate frontend components with backend APIs and third-party services, including payment gateways, CRM systems, social media platforms, and analytics tools
• Customize and extend the WordPress admin interface to improve content editor workflows
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve bugs, performance issues, and technical bottlenecks
• Write end-to-end tests to ensure application stability, functionality, and performance
• Review code, mentor developers, and promote best practices in WordPress development

Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Expertise

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack WordPress development
• Expert knowledge of front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
• Experience implementing web animation and interactive behaviors with CSS and JavaScript, including support for reduced-motion preferences
• Solid understanding of PHP and MySQL
• Experience extending core Gutenberg blocks and building custom blocks using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF); familiarity with native block development is a plus
• Well-versed in customizing WordPress, including building themes and plugins from scratch
• Skilled in consuming RESTful APIs in WordPress, including data fetching, transformation, and secure data handling
• Fluent in writing well-designed, testable, reusable code following modern development standards
• Familiar with Continuous Integration, and experienced in writing and maintaining automated tests
• Proficiency with version control (GIT) and deployment pipelines
• Knowledgeable in implementing web accessibility standards (WCAG)
• Working knowledge of build tools and package managers like Webpack and Composer
• MUST BE ABLE to share portfolio with client as well.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A portfolio showcasing strong frontend craft and effective use of motion, transitions, and interactive details
• Familiarity with end-to-end testing frameworks such as Playwright or Codeception, and experience contributing to team test coverage and quality assurance strategies

Proficient in using performance monitoring tools (e.g., Lighthouse, New Relic, PageSpeed Insights) to support frontend and backend optimization efforts
