Job Description:
Seeking a Senior VMware & Server Infrastructure Engineer to lead an server refresh and VMware migration project. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with ProLiant servers, VMware ESXi/vCenter, Windows Server, networking, and enterprise storage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, rack, cable, and configure ProLiant servers in the data center.
- Install/configure VMware ESXi 7.x/8.x and vCenter environments.
- Configure networking, storage, security, firmware, BIOS, and drivers.
- Migrate VMs from legacy ESXi 7.0.3 hosts to new infrastructure.
- Perform pre/post-migration health checks, backup validation, and troubleshooting.
- Support SAN/NAS, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, and Windows Server environments.
- Create implementation/as-built documentation and provide knowledge transfer.
- Coordinate maintenance windows, stakeholders, and post-migration stabilization.
Must-Have Skills:
- 7+ years of VMware administration experience.
- Strong VMware ESXi 7.x/8.x and vCenter experience.
- Hands-on ProLiant server installation, builds, firmware/BIOS upgrades, and hardware replacement.
- Experience with VMware host lifecycle management and VM migrations.
- Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration.
- Strong knowledge of VLANs, server networking, SAN/NAS, RAID, and enterprise backup/recovery.
- Strong troubleshooting and production migration experience.
- Must be able to work onsite in Tysons, VA.
Preferred:
- VCP certification.
- Experience with production ESXi host replacement/server refresh projects.
- Utility or energy-sector experience.
- Strong communication and ability to work Consultantly.
