About the Role

The Company is seeking an SVP, Associate General Counsel to join their team. The successful candidate will be a key leader in the Legal Department, responsible for managing and mentoring a team of attorneys, and providing strategic legal advice to ensure the company's operations are in compliance with all relevant financial services laws. This role involves anticipating and mitigating legal and regulatory risks, as well as leading the legal aspects of new product and service development. The ideal candidate will have a JD degree, be licensed to practice law in at least one state in the US, and have a minimum of 12 years' legal experience, with a focus on consumer financial services, regulatory compliance, contract review, and litigation.Key responsibilities for the SVP, Associate General Counsel include supervising and mentoring legal staff, advising on legal and regulatory matters, overseeing the legal department's operations, and managing complex legal documents and contracts. The role also requires the individual to have a strong background in consumer financial services, either from a FinTech, bank, credit union, non-depository lending institution, or a large law firm representing such companies. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to think critically, and a proven track record of managing legal compliance in a complex organization. Experience in managing attorneys or legal teams is essential, and the individual should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
