Position Overview
The selected consultant will be responsible for designing modern, intuitive, user-centered UI/UX for complex, workflow-heavy applications. The consultant will work directly with business users, project managers, IT supervisors, developers, and other stakeholders in an Agile environment.


The role involves user research, wireframing, prototyping, design systems, usability testing, information architecture, and UI handoff while helping influence product strategy and roadmap improvements.


Required Skills

• 8+ years designing intuitive, user-centered interfaces for workflow-heavy applications
• 8+ years in Information Architecture, navigation, and multi-step workflows
• 8+ years working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative delivery
• 5+ years working with Design Systems, component libraries, reusable patterns, and visual standards
• 5+ years designing SaaS, enterprise, or complex digital products
• 5+ years with modern design tools such as Figma, Axure, Sketch, or similar
• Experience with WCAG and Section 508 accessibility
• Understanding of secure UX design practices
• Experience collaborating with frontend developers on HTML/CSS implementation
• Familiarity with frontend and backend development environments
• Strong understanding of UX research, usability testing, prototyping, and user-centered design
• Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and translate UI/UX requirements from business users and stakeholders.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and user-friendly designs for complex business processes.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and design validation.
• Develop and maintain Design System libraries and reusable UI components.
• Collaborate with developers, BAs, PMs, and engineering teams on design solutions.
• Establish an effective UI/UX handoff process to development teams.
• Ensure designs follow UX, accessibility, security, and usability best practices.
• Collaborate with backend developers on frontend/backend integration.
• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
• Lead design discussions and manage large design initiatives with competing priorities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to technical staff.

• Hybrid: Onsite every 3rd day at the Shipley Building, 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH.
• Candidate must be an Ohio resident and work must be performed within Ohio.
• 15-minute Teams interview, followed by a full onsite interview.
• Candidate must be prepared to present/share a UI/UX portfolio with work samples.
