Senior Technical Artist (UE5)

Location: United States or Canada (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking Senior Technical Artists for a specialized UE5 strike team. This role supports a large-scale AAA open-world single-player game currently in a performance optimization and polish phase. The position requires experienced technical artists who can assess content, identify performance risks, and implement asset-level improvements across the game.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize game assets for performance and stability.
  • Improve the efficiency of textures, shaders, materials, VFX, animations, and 3D assets.
  • Identify content-related bottlenecks impacting frame rate and performance.
  • Work with artists and engineers to balance fidelity and performance goals.
  • Support optimization efforts across PC and console platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve asset-related rendering and performance issues.
  • Review asset creation workflows and recommend optimization best practices.
  • Take ownership of optimization initiatives and drive measurable performance improvements.

Required Qualifications

Experience: Senior-level Technical Artist experience within the gaming industry. Strong Unreal Engine 5 experience and a background in supporting shipped game titles.

Technical Skills: Expertise in asset optimization with a strong understanding of textures, shaders, and materials. Proven ability to improve performance while maintaining visual quality.

General Skills: Must be self-sufficient and able to work independently. A strong sense of ownership and problem-solving skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience shipping AAA Unreal Engine 5 titles.
  • Open-world game development experience.
  • Cross-platform PC and console experience.
  • Familiarity with rendering performance analysis and profiling workflows.
  • Experience supporting projects in optimization, certification, or polish phases.
