We are working with building material and component manufacturers across the country looking for experienced Senior Truss Designers who want to take on a new challenge.

These are on-site opportunities where your experience matters. You'll work directly with production, sales, estimators, engineers, contractors and leadership — becoming part of the operation rather than simply moving drawings through a computer screen.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Truss Designer, you'll take ownership of the design process from architectural and structural plans through final truss placement and design drawings.

Responsibilities may include:

• Design roof trusses, floor trusses and other engineered wood components.
• Produce accurate Truss Placement Plans and Truss Design Drawings.
• Review architectural and structural plans and identify potential conflicts.
• Work directly with production, sales, estimators, contractors, engineers and construction teams to resolve design issues.
• Coordinate field issues, repairs and modifications.
• Interpret building codes, engineering requirements and manufacturer specifications.
• Use design software, CAD and supporting component-design programs.
• Troubleshoot difficult or unusual designs and develop practical solutions.
• Communicate design changes and technical solutions.
• Support and mentor less-experienced designers when needed.
• Stay current on building codes, products and construction practices.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has been around truss design long enough to know that the computer is only part of the job.

You understand how a design translates into something that actually gets manufactured, delivered and installed.

Ideal experience includes:

• 5+ years of professional truss design experience
• Strong roof and/or floor truss design experience
• Advanced knowledge of MiTek, Alpine, Eagle Metal or similar software
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans
• Strong understanding of residential construction and building materials
• Knowledge of applicable building codes and engineering requirements
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Comfortable working in an on-site manufacturing/component environment
