Job Overview: We are seeking a Senior Transportation Structural Engineer to lead the design of transportation structures projects. This senior-level role involves managing structural design for projects of varying size and complexity while ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Design of new and rehabilitated bridge projects.
  • Ensure project schedules and quality standards are met.
  • Maintain project scopes, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Prepare contract bid documents and oversee construction phase services.
  • Coordinate with subconsultants and internal teams.
  • Lead design engineers and drafting personnel.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and foster strong professional relationships.
Required Skills:
  • Proven ability to manage structural design for engineering and construction projects of varying complexity.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete components.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Required Experience:
  • 12 20 years of relevant experience in structural design.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Maryland.
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD bridge design standards.
  • Experience working with the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT).
Preferred Experience:
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 6+ years of experience leading design engineers and drafting teams.
Working Conditions:
  • Primarily office-based with occasional standing/walking.
  • Sedentary work with adequate lighting and temperature control.
  • Minimal exposure to noise, dust, or hazardous conditions.
MUST HAVE Qualifications:
  • 12 20 years of structural design experience.
  • Maryland PE license (active).
  • AASHTO LRFD bridge design experience.
  • Experience with MDOT projects.
  • Expertise in steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete design.
