This is a technical leadership opportunity for a PE with strong NCDOT roadway design experience who can lead roadway design and plan production, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior engineers and designers.
Responsibilities
Lead roadway design and plan development for transportation projects
Develop and review roadway alignments, profiles, cross sections, and 3D corridor models
Lead and support NCDOT plan production, including quantity calculations
Coordinate roadway design with MOT/traffic control, drainage, pavement marking, and signing disciplines
Provide technical oversight and quality review of plans and design deliverables
Mentor and supervise junior engineers and design staff
Coordinate with project managers and multidisciplinary design teams
Assist with project schedules, budgets, technical scopes, and other project management responsibilities
Communicate with clients and agency representatives throughout project delivery
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
8+ years of roadway/transportation design experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Strong experience with NCDOT roadway design and plan production
Experience developing and working with roadway corridor models
Proficiency with MicroStation and GEOPAK
Experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) preferred
Experience with MOT, drainage, pavement marking plans (PMP), and signing is a plus
