Our client has an immediate opening for a detail-oriented, motivated Senior Transportation Project Manager/Engineer to join its team in Indianapolis. This role offers the opportunity to lead transportation projects, including roundabouts, roadway rehabilitation, intersection improvements, traffic signals, drainage systems, and multi-use paths.
The ideal candidate brings demonstrated team leadership, strong communication and problem-solving skills, sound engineering judgment, and experience managing transportation projects from conception through completion.
Manage transportation projects from conception through completion, overseeing scope, schedules, budgets, and engineering deliverables.
Lead and guide technical staff, providing direction and support throughout project delivery.
Oversee the timely development of preliminary and final engineering deliverables.
Manage project financial performance and monitor progress against established budgets.
Apply applicable AASHTO and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) standards, procedures, and specifications.
Perform and oversee roadway and drainage design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria using sound judgment.
Communicate proactively with clients, project stakeholders, and team members.
Support team collaboration and maintain positive working relationships.
Lead projects involving Local Public Agencies (LPAs) and INDOT.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
10+ years of professional engineering experience with demonstrated team leadership.
Knowledge of INDOT standards, procedures, and specifications.
Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for roadway and drainage design.
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently and lead a collaborative project team.
Demonstrated success managing LPA and INDOT transportation projects.
Familiarity with AASHTO standards and requirements.
Strong background delivering preliminary and final engineering documents on time.
Successful financial project management experience.
Design experience involving traffic signals, roundabouts, curb ramps, sidewalks, multi-use paths, or drainage systems.
Utility coordination expertise.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
