About You

A B.S. in Civil or Transportation Engineering

At least 5 years of experience in traffic engineering and/or traffic planning projects, with DOT experience strongly desired

Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure, required

Experience planning, scheduling, coordinating, and conducting transportation and traffic engineering work

Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and techniques applied in traffic and transportation projects

Skilled in explaining, persuading, and negotiating critical project issues

Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships

Proficiency in Synchro, Excel, and OpenRoads; knowledge of HCS, SIDRA, VISSIM, ArcGIS, CUBE, and TransCAD is desirable

Strong understanding of and experience using HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, and DOT's Policies and Procedures, including DOT policy manuals or similar documents

About the Role

As a Traffic Engineer, you will:

Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate transportation engineering work, including traffic impact analyses, traffic forecasting studies, roundabout feasibility studies, parking studies, signal timing studies, access management studies, intersection safety analyses, operational studies, and corridor studies

Prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications for major projects

Produce engineering drawings based on applicable traffic industry calculations; check, interpret, and revise engineering drawings

Prepare and review project plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates

Prepare informational materials (e.g., project fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations) to communicate projects clearly to stakeholders and the public

Supervise less experienced engineers and technical support personnel within a project team

Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, outside consultants, and firm staff

Communicate and interact effectively with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as appropriate

Prepare project scope, schedules, and budgets; assist in overall project management
