    Role summary:
    The Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration, is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems across commercial and industrial facilities. This role leads diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and compliance with safety and environmental standards while managing field teams and coordinating service operations. The position requires expertise in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant systems, ensuring optimal equipment performance, and supporting workforce development through mentoring and training. The Senior Technician also collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and supports critical business needs through timely issue resolution.

    What you'll do:
    • Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
    • Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial equipment.
    • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
    • Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.
    • Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
    • Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service schedules to meet operational priorities.
    • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical business needs outside regular hours.

    What you'll bring:
    • Proven expertise in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
    • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial environments.
    • Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
    • Experience leading field teams, mentoring technicians, and managing escalated service issues effectively.
    • Ability to manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinate service calls to meet business priorities.
    • Skilled in documenting work orders with detailed notes and photographic evidence.

    The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

    Minimum Qualifications...

    Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

    Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
    Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
    Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
    Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
    1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience.
    Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
    Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
    Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
    No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
    No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

    Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program or 2-year associate’s of applied science A/C and refrigeration., Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams., Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment., Prior work experience with Glycol and C02 systems.
