Minimum 12 years of related experience. Relied upon to present directly to clients on technical and design solutions. Works closely with the Project Manager and Project Architect to directly supervise design and technical delivery. May include special expertise roles and titles.
Qualifications
- Architectural licensure not required
- Minimum 12 years of relevant experience and at least 5 completed projects comparable to WDG's scope and scale
- Senior-level staff with proven leadership in technical detailing from schematic design through construction documentation
- Full knowledge of design, building construction, sustainable design, building codes, and zoning regulations
- Adept at mentoring teams on appropriate technical design solutions
Responsibilities
- Provide direction for project technical detailing and associated specifications
- Strategize technical development with senior leadership
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams through multiple phases, applying QA/QC and firm standards
- Initiate technical documentation preparation in conjunction with PM and Senior Project Designer
- Monitor technical execution from schematic design through construction administration
- Resolve complex technical challenges and coordinate drawings with specification writers
- Establish document strategy ("cartoon sets"), file structures, and software integration
- Maintain collaborative relationships with leadership, consultants, vendors, and contractors
- Supervise contract documentation; mentor staff and participate in professional reviews
- Lead technical problem-solving and coordination meetings
- Provide technical detailing for Integrated Sustainable Design features
- Work across multiple projects in coordination with PMs and Project Architects
- Participate in governing agency reviews for zoning and code compliance
- Convey firm advocacy internally and externally
- Perform Construction Contract Administrator duties as required
Skillsets
- Extensive experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, MS Office, and MS Project
- Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, sustainable design, and construction execution
- Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
- Active participant in WDG QA/QC processes
